The Waynesboro High School Cross Country Teams are happy to announce that they will be hosting the 2nd Annual Spring Fling 10k Run/Walk on March 17, 2012 at Ridgeview Park in Waynesboro, Virginia. We are excited to offer this race again and hope to make it bigger and better than last year. This is an excellent race for those of you planning on running the local Park to Park Half Marathon in April. Our race is planned 6 weeks before the Waynesboro 1/2 Marathon, which works well with most 1/2 marathon training programs.  If you are not a veteran runner, no problem.  We would be delighted to have you choose our race as your first to get feel for the wonderful sport of running.  Our course features gently rolling hills and a beautiful river view for most of the course.

A new timing system at the finish line this year will offer faster results. The course will be open to traffic with assistance from the local police department at key intersections. Aid stations will be provided along the route as well. All proceeds from this race will benefit the Waynesboro High School Cross Country Teams. We hope that you will join us in welcoming spring to the Valley.

Time: 8:00 am

Place: Ridgeview Park, Magnolia Ave. Waynesboro VA

Start/Finish are both located within the park

Directions  to Ridgeview Park

From I-64, take Exit 94.  When you get off the exit ramp, go East on Route 340 towards Waynesboro.  Proceed approximately 2 miles.  At the traffic light at Riverview Cemetery, turn right onto 13th Street.  At the stop sign turn right onto Magnolia Avenue.  Magnolia ends at the park.

 

 

 

 

Race Registration and Packet Pick-ups

Race packets may be picked up the morning of the race at the starting line beginning at 7:00 am.  Race day registration will begin at 6:45 am.

Course Description  (Course Map is below as an attachment..once document is open, click on the right hand side of map and enlarge)

Start- Ridgeview Park- run out of park towards Magnolia Ave

Take Right on 12th Street = Follow to Left on Pine Ave

Right on 11th Street = Follow to Right on South Wayne Ave

South Wayne will turn into Lyndhurst Road

Follow to 2nd entrance of York Drive on your Left

Continue on York Drive circle back to Right on Lyndhurst Road

Immediate Left on Meadowbrook Road = Follow to left on Northgate

Follow Northgate to Right on Shawnee Road

(Shawnee Rd changes names to S Ellison Ln and Ashby Dr...continue running towards the right to stay on course)

Take left off of Ashby Drive onto Lovers Lane = Follow to Right on Rosser Avenue

Rosser Avenue to Right onto 13th Street = Continue to Right on Cherry Avenue

Continue Right onto 14th Street= Make left on Magnolia Avenue heading back into the park.  Finish will be in the park parking lot.

Mile 1 Marker: Corner of Pine & 11th

Mile 2 Marker: Intersection of Lyndhurst & Windsor Rd

Mile 3 Marker: End of York Drive Circle

Mile 4 Marker: Northgate before turning on Shawnee Rd

Mile 5 Marker: Intersection of Rosser &13th
